Via Dolorosa
04:03
|
|||
1 Down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
The man condemned to die on calvary
2 He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon his back
And he wore a crown of thorns upon his head
And he bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for his death.
Refrain
Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of
His love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to calvary.
Bridge
The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
Made its way through the heart of Jerusalem.
Coda
Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of his love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.
This song for Good Friday was written by American evangelical pop singer, songwriter and music producer Billy Sprague and American Christian music songwriter Niles A Borop.
It is named after and inspired by the Via Dolorosa, a street in the Old City of Jerusalem which is traditionally held to be the path Jesus walked on the way to his Crucifixion.
The song was originally published in 1984 by Meadowgreen Music / Word music and included in Songs From the Heart, an album by American singer Sandi Patty.
Arranged by Nathan DiGesare for Dino Kartonakis, published in Dino’s piano book, Regal Reign.

At Calvary
01:32
|
|||
1 Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not it was for me He died
On Calvary.
Refrain
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
Pardon there was multiplied to me;
There my burdened soul found liberty
At Calvary.
2 By God’s Word at last my sin I learned;
Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,
Till my guilty soul imploring turned
To Calvary.
3 Now I’ve giv’n to Jesus everything,
Now I gladly own Him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing
Of Calvary!
4 Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span
At Calvary!
Tune composed by Daniel B. Towner, 1895
Lyrics by William R. Newell, 1895
Arranged by Tedd Smith

Redeemed
02:28
|
|||
1 Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am.
Refrain
Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
2 Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence
With me doth continually dwell.
3 I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.
4 I know I shall see in His beauty
The King in whose law I delight;
Who lovingly guardeth my footsteps,
And giveth me songs in the night.
5 I know there’s a crown that is waiting
In yonder bright mansion for me,
And soon, with the spirits made perfect,
At home with the Lord I shall be.

Lyrics by Fanny Jane Crosby (1820-1915)

The Easter Medley
04:22
|
|||
1 Hear the bells ringing
They're singing that you can be born again
Hear the bells ringing
They're singing Christ is risen from the dead
The angel up on the tombstone
Said He has risen, just as He said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That Jesus Christ is no longer dead
Joy to the word, He has risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
2 Hear the bells ringing
They're singing that you can be healed right now
Hear the bells ringing, they're singing
Christ, He will reveal it now
Joy to the world, He has risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah, hallelujah
The angel up on the tombstone
Said He has risen, just as He said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That Jesus Christ is no longer dead
Joy to the world, He has risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
Hallelujah
“Easter Song” is a song written by Annie Herring in 1971 that tells of Jesus’ resurrection and the elation Christians feel.
This arrangement by Kim Collingsworth combines the Easter Song with Christ the Lord is Risen Today, written by Charles Wesley in 1739.
